HAPPY 2ND Birthday Gabe!!
Gabe turned 2 on Tuesday, February 8th. We had a small family “party” for him that consisted of cake and 3 presents, which was one more than he actually needed. After opening the first 2, he handed me the third and told me he didn’t want it. He got a portable wooden train set http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2331392
to take to Callie’s ballet class on Wednesdays. While we wait for Callie’s ballet class, another little boy who comes to wait for his sister in the next class became Gabe’s best friend (the other boy doesn’t like Gabe quite as much.) He would walk into the waiting area with this train set and Gabe would walk right up to him and say “wanna play choo choo train!” The other boy (who is 5 and very shy) would look so upset! So we finally brought Gabe’s to ballet last Wednesday and the other little boy didn’t bring his (although his mother said it was the first time in 3 years he didn’t bring the train set it – wonder why!!) Needless to say Gabe was very happy to have his own train set. He also got 4 imaginarium wooden trains to go with it. I think it holds 8 trains total. Oh and the 3rd gift he didn’t want was a choo choo train floor mat so he can play downstairs with his trains. He likes it now, but I had to unwrap it for him and lay it out for him to see.

He grabbed this cup off the shelf at Toys R Us a few weeks ago and held on for dear life. We could not pry it out of his hand. So, we decided it was a cute enough cup, we’ll buy it for him. When we got home we looked at the receipt – the cup was $8.99!!!!! What?!?@#
Some of our favorite “Gabe-isms” lately are some of the words he come us with. For example, his jammies are “beebas” and his favorite pair of jammies are his “star beebas.” We even sing a song about the star beebas… “Oh star beebas oh star beebas, we love to wear our star beebas. And in the night, we put them on, and in the morning off they come. Oh star beebas…” The tune is to “Oh Christmas Tree” and of course Gus made it up (I’m not that creative.) Gabe loves the song as much as the jammies and starts singing it every night.
Another favorite quality of Gabe is his ability to eat anything and everything you give him. He just “needs a spoon.” As soon as you put food in front of him he says “I need a boon.” (lately he sometimes need a “boon-fork”)
Lastly, his favorite breakfast is “Neat-new” (oatmeal.) When he comes downstairs almost every morning he says “I want neat-new.”
He talks all the time and has started putting 2 words together several months ago. He now speaks mostly in sentences, although they are sometimes hard to understand. He wants to do everything his older siblings do and I really believe in his mind he is 5 years old.
Oh wait! One last thing. He is really good at sports-like things. He runs fast and with good form (elbows bent and fists at his sides), loves to throw balls (over-hand and usually at his brother’s face) and always picks a ball, bat or stick of any kind first if given the choice of toys. I also believe he’s going to be left-handed.
